Simplicity of Consistency

One Simple Step to Increase Business Success

Consistency is doing something repeatedly and the same way over time. Have you ever heard of someone who consistently is punctual? How about someone who consistently is late? We become known for the things we consistently do, or do not do. The mere fact that we repeat an action or trait time and time again turns it into a habit or pattern. If it is an admirable action or trait, great! It's a positive habit that will have a positive impact on our success and relationships. On the other hand, if it is a negative habit, by doing it consistently, it will soon become a part of the way we conduct business and it will affect our reputation. No one wants to be known for consistently being late or always being unprepared or disorganized. The good news is that we can turn negative business traits into positive ones in a very simple way—by consistently doing or acting in a way that changes our habits and patterns.

Does that sound too simple? While it is simple, it's ability to transform our habits and create newfound success should not be underestimated. Don't take the simplicity of repetition for granted. Becoming aware of the things we need to change and simply being consistent about altering them is one of the most effective ways to create new, positive habits. The simple things that we do with consistency become our patterns and habits. Simply put, the more we repeat a certain action or thought, the more it will become natural to us. By repeating these simple traits on a consistent basis, they become a part of an individual's culture.

Consistency is the key to achieving our goals and building a solid, positive business reputation. We program our self based on the messages and beliefs we send to our subconscious mind. This becomes the software that our mind follows every day. Being consistent in following up with clients, delivering exceptional customer service, and being on top of providing the latest and greatest products and services are all simple, but consistent, qualities. By staying with these simple traits, they become part of our culture and identity. Who wouldn't want to be known for being prompt and providing top notch service?

It doesn't take much to step back and recognize what simple traits, actions, or qualities you consistently exhibit. Are they negative or positive? This awareness, as simple as it is, might show you how to implement positive consistencies that will help you hold yourself accountable. All you have to do is consistently exhibit the traits and qualities you do want, and over time, they will replace the former negative ones. With consistency, you can use them toward your advantage.

Take a step back to become more aware of what you should change and redirect your actions toward positive reinforcement. It's that simple!

Setting Exceptions that are Non-Negotiable

We must be accountable for the principles and policies that we pride ourselves on!

While we all have good intentions, it's not uncommon for us to compromise from time to time. Every once in a while, we make exceptions to the standards we set or cut corners. We might waver from a goal or become so busy that we can't dedicate the time and attention to deliver our very best. On occasion, that's okay, but there are times when the exceptions we make will have a negative impact.
There will always be some things that we can negotiate, but we must be accountable for the principles and policies that we pride ourselves on. These are non-negotiable exceptions that we must adhere to and abide by in order to stay true to ourselves and be the best we can be.
What principles are non-negotiable to you? Do you set a higher standard for yourself than others? Do you refuse to cut corners? Maybe you want your business to be known for delivering the very best service or product. Even if going above and beyond expectations is the one thing that makes you stand out among the competition, that is the one thing that should be non-negotiable to you.
How can you avoid the temptation to negotiate your principles and values? First, you must reinforce them in your mind so they never get moved aside, even temporarily, by other demands and responsibilities. When you catch yourself compromising your principles, immediately stop what you are doing and clear your mind of any conflicting thoughts. Then reinforce your non-negotiable principles and values by reaffirming them in your thoughts and mind. Do this often, and you'll realize that you'll automatically implement them as you carry out your responsibilities. Remember, the subconscious is a powerful tool that always reinforces your strongest thoughts.
The things that are most important to you and your business should never be an exception. Don't negotiate your success; commit to it—one thought at a time.

Accountability Factor in Business and in Life!

How to succeed in business, overcome challenges, and create success in your life.

That sounds like a tall order, doesn't it? We would all like success in our lives. It starts with not allowing suggestions, environment, society, or any other external influence to determine our reality.
As a motivational speaker for corporate events, sales conferences, and conventions, I'm asked all too often how people can succeed in everything they do. How does one empower themselves personally and professionally? Perhaps, the greatest knowledge one can gain is knowing his or her true self. All too often, we let our true selves become dormant while we're busily tending to work and other responsibilities.
Take a step back and reacquaint yourself with the person you are today. Learn how you've changed through the years, and then you will have the ability to make the changes you need to make to be true to yourself for years to come.
"You can live a lifetime and, at the end of it, know more about other people than you know about yourself." -- Beryl Markham
We must first learn to become more aware of ourselves. To be "ACCOUNTABLE," we must STOP and PAY ATTENTION! We need to STOP and objectively watch ourselves in action.
  • Health / Wellness
  • Wealth
  • Happiness
  • Fitness
  • Career
  • Goals
We live most of our lives by habit. These habits can be good or bad. They also can keep us stuck in patterns that limit our experience of life. Once we detect a pattern we were previously unconscious of, we can choose differently, if we want. With awareness, comes choice, and with choice, we gain freedom. Self-discovery never ends! Whether you love him or hate him, look at Donald Trump—bold, arrogant, confident, successful, demanding, pompous, and sometimes charismatic. Regardless of your personal opinion, I believe he carries one trait common to his success and fame that we can all agree on—he is true to himself when it comes to his self-belief. He is authentic! Are you?
"To be authentic is literally to be your own author ..., to discover your own native energies and desires, and then to find your own way of acting on them." -- Warren G. Bennis
"Self-knowledge is the great power by which we comprehend and control our lives." -- Vernon Howard
Life is a growth process. Don't get stuck spinning your wheels around who you were yesterday. Take the time to find out and acknowledge who you've become and let that knowledge guide you. Make it a habit to do this on a regular basis. Personal and professional growth requires ongoing effort and reinforcement. The greatest investments you will ever make are investing in yourself and holding yourself accountable.

Negotiating with Yourself

Have you ever caught yourself negotiating—with yourself? For instance, how many of us have said, "I'll find time to relax tomorrow.?" The problem is tomorrow never comes. We talk ourselves out of precisely what we want … and need. Here's another: "I could never be as successful as the guy next door." Why not? Well, when you tell yourself those things, you're actually letting your mind dissuade you (and stop you from trying), instead of letting it persuade and motivate you. In that case, you've negotiated your way out of the success you want.
Negotiation is an art. It usually involves compromise, and sometimes sacrifice. Unfortunately, when the person we are negotiating with is ourself, we are the ones who sacrifice what we are working toward and compromise for less.
The problem with negotiating with yourself is that you'll not only get what you want (for the time being)—you'll get what you don't want, as well. Usually, negotiation results in a short-term reward that sabotages a long-term goal. Whether you know you need to relax and rejuvenate or you have a goal or are trying to break a bad habit, you won't find the success you're seeking if you continually bargain with yourself and talk yourself out of it. Simply put, when you negotiate with yourself, you cannot win.
The next time you catch yourself trying to talk yourself out of something (or talk yourself into something), stop! Immediately realize what is happening—your thoughts are steering you away from your goal. If you truly want to succeed, what is the first thing you need to do? That's right! You need to change your thoughts so they work for you, not against you.
When you change the way you think, there is no need to negotiate with yourself. Because your mind and your goals will be aligned, they will no longer battle each other.
Sometimes, the only thing standing between you and your success is YOU.

Yes, there are people that have total success, and I commend those, as well.  But let's face it, if you really wanted to make a change, you should already have begun making that change and you would not be readying this article. Take a good intention and start by adding action.

Most people already know how to lose weight. Learn to use self-hypnosis to guide and aid you in achieving your goals.
